The meeting room for the Gathering has been reserved, and the contract signed for our get-together for Thursday March 8th, 2012 at the Resort at Tapatio Springs in Boerne Texas.
In answer to your questions these are some of the answers.
1. How much does it cost to attend the Gathering?
Answer: The sponsor is paying for the Cibolo ballroom (tables and chairs) and audiovisual equipment rental, and there will be light snacks and popcorn. Unless you want something from the cash bar (including bottled water or soft drinks), there is no cost to attend.
2. What time is the Gathering?
Answer: We've got the room reserved from 5PM - 11PM; but you can come and go as you please. You may eat there at their restaurant, or complete a request to have food brought to the meeting room. Boerne is not far away and has lots of places to eat or stay. This is a casual come and go as you please type of meeting.
3. What is the agenda?
Answer: Meet one another; show your scrapbooks, trade, sell or barter Strait collectables; see "Pure Country" on a 10ft x 10ft screen. Share your love of George, and have fun! This is the perfect opportunity to make plans with a friend to share the experience and expenses of a Strait concert for his 2012 tour. I cannot stress this enough - if you have not seen George Strait in concert please make an effort to experience him soon. You will have memories to last a lifetime. George never disappoints, you will be amazed.

5:00 – Attendees start to arrive, check in with Karen, get name tags, turn in
guest book page, find table to sit, mingle
6:00 – Terry McIlvain (Tim Tucker) arrives; autograph session. Cash bar,
snacks, cake, popcorn, finish guest page, mingle. Order dinner from La
Cascada restaurant to eat during Pure Country.
7:30 – Welcome address.
Door Prizes.
Begin Pure Country. Eat dinner during movie.
9:30 – Pure Country Ends.

THIS IS A CELEBRATION:
2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of "Pure Country," the movie. The contract for showing Pure Country on a large screen at this gathering of fans is signed, and a done deal.
2012 is the 30th Anniversary of the George Strait Team Roping Classic, and
2012 is the 31st year since George signed with MCA. We as George Strait fans are celebrating the 31 year career and success of George Strait in the recording industry!
George will be 60 years old May 18th, 2012. Norma and George celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on December 4th, 2011.

The contract for reservations at the Resort at Tapatio Springs is signed and is a done deal. The resort has been undergoing some updates and changes, as the new owners promised.
Besides hotel rooms at Tapatio, the closest hotel is the La Quinta in Boerne, 830-249-1212 (not the La Quinta near the Dominion in Leon Springs). There are plenty of Hotels and Motels in and around the area, Boerne is the closest city. This is the link to a guide to local Hotels in San Antonio Boerne is northwest of and 30 miles from San Antonio.

One cannot take something like this on without help. I have wonderful friends who are helping and they will be sharing updates as plans are settled.
Phyllis J. will be sharing and taking photos, Barbara G. will be helping, and her husband Joe will be taking photos.
Nancy Edwards is the one responsible for the motivation and planning of this get-together. She is also coordinating the showing of "Pure Country," by arranging for the audiovisual equipment rental, light snacks including popcorn, and some other items to be announced.
Nancy put together some helpful area maps and information for attendees: See the bottom of this page for links to three maps:
* a map from the San Antonio airport to Tapatio Springs Resort,
* a map from Tapatio Springs Resort to San Antonio Rose Palace for George Strait Team Roping Classic,
* and a map of a tour of George Strait honky-tonks. Start at Boerne then drive to to Gruene, New Braunfels and San Marcos. Each location has a display of George Strait memorabilia. Allow about 6 hours for this tour including time for a meal.

Karen Kasner has taken on the challenge of making a very special Guestbook for the Gathering;
Final Request regarding the Guestbook for the upcoming George Strait Fever Gathering,
Linda has asked me to put together a Guestbook for the George Strait Fever Gathering on March 8th at the Tapatio Springs Resort. It will be given to George as a momento of the personal and professional milestones that will be occuring in 2012.
I need your page to complete the Guestbook. The Guestbook page form is available under the “Links” at the bottom of thia page.
- If you would like to print out the page and complete it yourself, you can simply bring the completed form with photo to the Gathering on March 8th and I will add it to the book for you. I’ll be at the check-in table at the event and I can take it from you there. Since printers vary, make sure your form measures 8” x 8” so it will fit into the Guestbook.
- There is room on the form for a 3” x 3” photo of yourself- you can bring the photo
to the Gathering and I will make sure it gets attached to your Guestbook page.

You have only to drive to George and Tom's "Resort at Tapatio Springs," and find the meeting room. Print out a copy of the maps - see links below - and take them with you. We are putting this informal gathering for George Strait fans together so that we can meet each other, and celebrate GEORGE STRAIT.
~ April 19, 2012. Final update/outcome: The Gathering was a success. It was rewarding to see friends talking to each other, relaxing and enjoying George, and it was really nice to have folks come up to me and thank me - both for the Gathering, and for my Straitfever web sites. I had one disappointment that I won't get over, as it has to do with someone I thought was a friend.
The Guestpages with each person's thoughts and best wishes to Norma and George were sent to me eventually, and I put my touch on them, adding photos from the Gathering and some decorations. I also added back two pages that were missing. Also sent to Norma and George was a check for the Jenifer Strait Foundation, with total donations = $745.00.
If nothing else I learned from this process and experience. Should I plan another get together it will be a different type of 'meeting,' and will be kept simple.
